FEBS Youth Travel Fellowship (YTF)

A number of FEBS Youth Travel Funds (YTF) grants for PhD students and young researchers will be available covering registration fees and travel. Whereas the registration fee covering living expenses will send directly to the course organizers, the travel award is transferred to YTF recipients, unless for foreign exchange reasons he/she requests it to be sent also to course organizers.

Conditions for YTF Grants

To be eligible for a YTF grant, individuals should apply with an abstract, a 1-page curriculum vitae and one letter of recommendation. The candidates should include with the application their full address, phone and fax numbers and their e-mail address. All applications for YTF grants must be made via the application/registration form. Verification of a FEBS constituent society membership as well as a letter of recommendation must be sent by e-mail attachment to the FEBS-MPST2009 secretariat ().

Applicants should:

  1.  be registered as student at an institution of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society, or be within five years of having completed a PhD thesis;
  2. be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society;
  3. not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend an Advanced Course in the current year (2009);
  • Awards will only be made to persons traveling from their current country of residence to anothercountry.
  • Where support for travelling is given, the amount of the award shall be related to the distance from the applicant's place of work to the venue of the meeting.
  • The awards shall be made by the Treasurer in consultation with the Course Organizers.
  • Only in exceptional circumstances may any of these conditions be waived.

 

Young Investigator Awards

All abstracts with graduate students or postdoctoral fellows as first authors that not received a YTF are subject to scientific evaluation by selected members. The best 5 abstracts will receive the "FEBS-MPST2009 Young Investigator Award" at the end of the course. This will be financed with the full registration fee. To be eligible for this award, individuals should also apply with an abstract, a curriculum vitae (one page) and one letter of recommendation. The candidates should include with the application their full address, phone and fax numbers, their e-mail address and an I.D. photo.
The young investigator awards are sponsored by Pharmaceutical firms and lab suppliers.
